music equals life

Alright, time to talk about something that is a big part of me. MUSIC. I love music, and so does the rest of my family. I've grown up taking piano lessons for a few years, violin for 7 years, and I've recently picked up the guitar.
My brother Nick has played guitar for most of his life, and he is amazinglyyyyy good! I hate to compliment him... but it's true...
Now, my lil bro Liam has started to play the guitar too, and he's picking it pretty fast!
So basically my whole family is involved with music, which makes my life pretty much awesome. If I didn't know how to play any kind of instrument, I don't know what I would do with my life.
Playing music is a way to express myself, or even when I need to get something off my mind or just relax for a few minutes (or a few hours) I just pick up my guitar and play. :)

Playing music, and listening to music are two different things. Sure, you can play music, and sing along to a few songs, but that's not what it's all about. Some songs have deep meanings, and really catch the attention of people.
Some people are like "YEAHHHHH. KESHAAA. OMGSH, RHIANNNAAAA! SHE'S SO GOOD!" Well, no. I'm not like that. If you haven't noticed, they can't sing. and they suck at writting music.. they probably don't even write it.. "blah, blah, blah." Really? those aren't lyrics..
People who have real talent are the 80's bands. They actually play instruments, and write their own songs, and have an actual voice! Or even like coldplay, toyko police club, cold war kids, young the giant, etc. Those are real bands with real talent.

I think I got my point across. :P
well, I have some amazing friends that also have musical talent:
Kathryn VanWyngaarden- she's pretty much awesome. I love her. Last night she had a fundraiser for her trip to Haiti. She has her band play, along with a few other bands. I can't lie... they were awesome! I actually couldn't believe how good some of the bands were that played last night. blew-me-away. It was a great night, with lots of energy and talent.

Kathryn has played the guitar for 4 years, and even teaches guitar now.
Willem Sennema- well, this guy is really one of a kind! He plays the guitar AND the harmonica. he's got some mad skill. no lie.
Joel Robins- apparently he can play the guitar.. not to sure.. but I'll take his word for it. ;)
Emma VanDyk- she's got insane piano skills. her fingers are like lightening! She also picked up the guitar not too long ago! And she plays the trumpet. thats right.. the trumpet.. y'all jealous.
I have a few other friends that can play music and enjoy it as much as I do, but these people really stick out.

so. I think I should stop babbling about music. I could go on forever. so yeah.
kbye.

oh. btw, my big bro just went to a studio in toronto to record a song with his friend. just thought I'd let y'all know. :)

mexico - differences

kayguys, so most of you know that I went on a trip to mexico.
first of all- it was AMAZING! we went snorkelling and saw so many amazing different kinds of fish, we sat on a beautiful beach for 7 days, met some really cool people, and had a good time chilling as family and friends. It's a privlege to be able to go to resorts and places like where I have just come back from, and lots of people don't have the money for things like this.

To get to the resort, we had to take a coach bus from the airport to the resort. On the way, we saw tiny houses, squished close together. People were hanging their laundry on the roof, some of the houses were rotting away, and it just looked like a very sad place to live. Now don't get me wrong, these people could have no problem living there, but to some, it may be horrible, devestating and sad.
I've seen people broken before, living in communities that have no hope, and this one looked like the worst out of all of them. It hurt driving past those houses because I was about to step into a 5 star resort, just right outside where people needed help.

One of my brothers friends went to the same resort, and they even went off the resort to a market. He said that things down there were brutal, and there were even dogs walking around looking like they were about to die. I don't know about you-but this seems like a very sad place.

God has plans for these people, and even though it may seem like their lives aren't they greatest, they can still live in happiness because they have a God that loves and cares for them! I only hope that someday I can go back down there on some sort of trip and help.

Mexico is awesome by the way. The water is super blue. You should go there sometime. I highly recommend it. ;)
